Since the 1950s, The Triangle has been synonymous with ‘technology’ in the Southeast. These 24 counties in the Piedmont area of North Carolina have provided fertile ground for the growth of numerous high tech legends like IBM, SAS and Cisco Systems. Technology has created substantial growth in the population, commerce and culture of the Triangle.
The town of Pittsboro, NC was incorporated in 1787, just eleven years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. By 1850, Pittsboro was already a bustling center for business and culture. During the Civil War, the Haw River flooded, saving Pittsboro from sacking by Northern troops, who could not cross the water. Today, Pittsboro has proudly preserved more historic buildings and houses than any other town its size in the entire state of North Carolina.
